About Our Porch

We are three long-time friends from the piney woods of east Texas. All sharing an enthusiasm for off kilter music and the influences behind the sounds.

Brad Barry (Austin, TX)
He is trying to absorb all of the good vibes the world has to offer. He writes about music and occasionally tries to see the big picture. Brad also has a tape-only radio show on University of Texas’ rad campus radio station KVRX 91.7.

Johnny Disaster (Ukraine)
Also goes by Matthew Orr, it’s a birthright.  He’s good at this, this, and this, and he’d like to try that, that, and that.  You know him better than I do. Currently embarking on a great adventure in Ukraine teaching English through the Peace Corps.

The Hooded Deer (Austin, TX)
Also know as Mr. Fancy Pants, Wild Bill Hiccups, and good ole Will Bryant.  He’s an illustrator,  designer, blogger, husband, has-been deejay and a proud member of Public School (an Austin based creative collective).

Sonmi (Madison, WI)
The Porch’s newest contributor Julia Sonmi Heglund is an illustrator and designer that has a knack for all things mystical. She also creates Porch fitting jams with her boyfriend. Have a listen here!
