Fergus & Geronimo Release New LP!

Fergus & Geronimo are two fellas from Denton who moved to Brooklyn, whatever. You don’t need to know the migratory habits of the people behind the instruments to feel down right righteous when you plug in your stereo and jam their new long player, Funky was the State of Affairs. A record which may at first baffle, but soon reward those who believe in the transcendental power of paranoia. Paranoia isn’t the only thing going on here; This record is awash with themes both silly (intergalactic love affairs) and serious (cloned drones). As for its sound, just think of the most far out Devo record that could ever possibly be imagined and then add some sax.

Mp3: Fergus & Geronimo – No Parties

Matthew Koons, a dear friend of the Porch, has been jamming with a new band called Kamfgrounds. They just released a demo and is avaible for FREE download through Paperstain.

Tree Wave on the Porch

Tree Wave a.k.a. Paul Slocum has been laying low, musically, for the past couple of years, but staying busy with other equally mind bending projects such as this neat-o video piece (play them all at the same time). Allow me to testify to Tree Wave’s allure; I’ve been listening to the Cabana EP, Tree Wave’s only official release made up of just seven songs, for nearly four years now, and it is (nearly) the only music I listen to from that time in my life. It still has the same ring today, as it did five years ago — time being the harshest test of beauty.  Paul sat down on the Porch to discuss this and the future among many other things.

Darktown Strutters stop by the Porch

Darktown Strutters have found the strange magic that happens when Dallas turns on her lights. Just to get into the mood for what you’ll hear when you listen to not one, but TWO PORCH EXCLUSIVE TRACKS, try going to bed early at around 7pm, wake up at 2am, wander around lurking in shadows, pausing at street corners, and throwing objects off of bridges, and then you will be in the right mindset to let these electronic wonders strut through your gut-ear. You will probably find that the interview is more enjoyable when you’re sipping on Tang, as you learn about band origins, mottos, and spicy curveballs.

Yo: I’m excited as ever to present the first profile of a DJ in Porch of the Mystics history.  It just so happens to be a friend, Joey Liechty aka Yeahdef.  You can find him most likely wearing a tan Carhartt jacket in these wintry months, roaming the streets of Denton looking for a fix.  Which in his case would be a dancefloor.  On that subject, he’s got a message for all of you who may have fallen victim to his prowl, “To the owners of houses that I wrecked in the past – sorry for the mess – I miss you guys there will be more house parties I promise.”  From what I can tell, he keeps it real and loose.  Download his remix linked up below and it will single songedly pull you through the winter and into warmth.
